Of all the jobs I have had in the army the best was being a contact team cheif in D 122. For those of us lucky enough to have had a contact team and for those of you that where on contact teams this section is for you. Take a few and post a story of something that happened while out with your Battalion in Graf or Honsfeld. I will start off with this little story, Fennells where having a baby and I was told I was taking his contact team to Graf. I drove poor Matt Foy and Mark Brown crazy with questions on what to do. At the same time I am being told that if I messed up my career in the army was over. Well I took 2/32's contact team to Graf and was a paranoid for the next 10 days you see My wife was like 7 months prago too and we did not have a phone so I could not call home. An of course I was the new kid on the block so the team did not really trust me nor did the BN Maintenence of 2/32 Then on top of that Mark Brown (the smart ass) tells me he is going on a Volksmarch in Wartzburg the first Saturday we are out and hopes in a truck and leaves before I know what happened. Of course he is seen driving a 5 ton truck out of 2/32's Motor Pool in his Yellow PT outfit. When I got asked where he was going 10 min later by the BMT of 2/32 armor I had to think fast there where only two answers I could have given
1. the truth ----which I am sure would have got me fired and Mark a ART-15 or worse.
or
2. Lie my ASS OFF---- and tell the BMT that I sent him off to wash his clothes because something had leaked all over his clothes in the truck.
Like any good Buck Sgt I used Number 2 Thank God it worked LOL or Sp4 Mark Brown would have been a PFC or less and I would have never made it past Buck Sgt. Later that day when Mark got back we had a chat and both came to an understanding about hanging each others asses out in the wind.
